Patient arrives in the Emergency Department (ED) on his/her own at the Reception Area. The Triage clerk proceeds to do the "Quick Registration" of the patient with their health cards verifying their identity. place of residence and entering their presenting complaint

Once the "Quick Registration" is completed, the patient is sent to the Waiting Room awaiting to be triaged.

Patient is called in to be triaged by a nurse. The ED nurse will assess the patient and assign a CTAS score

Once triaged, patient is to the reserved chairs at the end of the registration area. .

The patient is then called to be registered.

Once registered, the patient is sent back to the Waiting Room for a second time, awaiting a bed in a treatment area.

Option 1 of 2: Once called in, depending on the care needed, patient is sent to Urgent Care for further assessment.

Option 2 of 2: If required by the triage nurse following the initial assessment, the patient is sent to Observation only if a bed bay is available.

On arrival to the UC area, patient is placed in an internal waiting room then moved to an examination room for assessment.

Once assessed by the physician, the patient is moved to a second internal waiting room to await treatment or diagnostic tests.
